Based in Reading, the Control and Display Division of Hutchinson Stop-choc design and manufacture electronic control equipment for the aerospace, defense, transportation, and simulation industries. Products vary from simple light plates to complete LRUs such as aircraft display units and CDUs. Stop-choc aim to undertake most design, development, and manufacturing activities in-house with support from external resources when necessary.

Essential Experience

  • Experience of electronic design and development for high reliability aerospace and defence products.
  • Able to create schematics using CAD software.

Desirable Experience

  • PCB layout design using Altium
  • Ability to create 2D drawings using AutoCAD.
  • Experience of safety critical firmware development.
  • Knowledge of NVIS requirements.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for all electronic design and for the ongoing support of existing designs and will be required to take responsibility for a product from customer specification to completed product. Additional responsibilities will include:

  • Design of test equipment and test methodology including software for computer-based testing of equipment.
  • Creation of Test Procedures and Work Instructions
  • Creation of technical reports such as:
    • FMECA
    • MTBF
    • Derating Reports
    • Compliance Statements
    • Test Reports
  • Qualification testing support including environmental and EMC testing.
  • Technical support to Sales for customer bids.
  • Technical support to Production.
  • Identifying suitable alternative components to address obsolescence issues.
  • Identify new opportunities and areas for improvement.
