Fully Bonded Bushes

Fully bonded bushes

Designed to cope with small conical, axial and torsional movements, a bush made from rubber bonded between two steel sleeves. These types of bush also support radial loads. Alongside variants made from other materials such as Polyurethane bonded bushes are used extensively in the automotive industry today.

History

Indeed it is Walter Chrysler, founder of the Chrysler Corporation (now part of Fiat) who many credit with leading the adoption of rubber vibration isolating mounts. In his memoir he recalls a day back in 1932 upon the launch of the new Plymouth model. The stand out feature being the six cylinder engine mounted at three points on rubber mounts. “Vibration and Noise – cut down immensely”. It very quickly became the adopted standard. Engine mounts were born and engineers had designed much of the vibration out of the motor car.

Our solutions.

Made up of 2 concentric tubes between which elastomer is bonded. When the bush is under torques or other external forces, the relative movement of the two tubes will deform the rubber. This is an elastic deformation. Looking at each application  you should choose a bush which will remain within its elastic operational limits.

Hutchinson Stop-choc design and manufacture a full range of bonded bushes. We also have a vast array of experience in working with customers to develop bespoke bushes to suit any application. All our bushes provides excellent noise and vibration isolation and protect from shock loads.

As with all Hutchinson Stop-choc design and manufacture products we offer our own in-house engineering support team. This together with our full suite of testing capability means we can assist and guide you in choosing the correct bush for your unique design.
